Introduction to MCB
MCB Bank Limited is a Pakistani multinational commercial bank situated in Lahore, Punjab. It has an extensive network of 1,551 branches
The Bank was established to cater for the needs of the South Asian business community. Adam G Group incorporated it on July 09, 1947. During Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s rule in 1974, the Bank was nationalized. The first ever privatization of a bank took place in 1991 when it was bought by a consortium of Pakistani corporate groups led by Nishat Group. Nishat Group owns a majority stake in Bank as at June 2008.
Mian Muhammad Mansha is chairman of both Mansha Group and MCB. The group is active in sectors such as banking, textiles, cement and insurance within the country. In order to provide products and services according to Shariah, the Bank has established an Islamic banking unit which operates specialized branches of Islamic banking in six cities.
In 2005, Muslim Commercial Bank Limited changed its name to MCB Bank Limited so as to explore international markets. He met hostility while seeking permission particularly from Western countries because of Muslim. In 2008, MCB head office moved from MCB Tower Karachi to Lahore where it now occupies a newly constructed building
